• To upgrade the technical capacities and urban management know-how of local government officials and disseminate information about best practices on urban planning and governance specifically from Europe to Asia countries through experience sharing of successful sustainable urban development projects.
  
  

• To promote and develop international co-operation between Asian / Malaysian local governments with European local government involved in sustainable development.
  
  

• To develop a knowledge repository system that can continuously facilitate exchange of information and sharing of knowledge and lessons learnt from Europe local governments and relevant Asia-Urbs projects on a long term basis, establishing opportunities to strengthen the "decentralised (city to city) co-operation" between the two continents.
